Who’s Behind the
Initiative? The Shawano County Rural Health Initiative is the outcome of more than a year of meetings involving farmers, the UW Extension, Genex Cooperative, the Women’s Farm Bureau, public health, ThedaCare, area banks, area cooperatives, school systems, veterinarian services, and others concerned about our farming community. Funding for the Shawano County Rural Health Initiative is provided by Shawano area farm related businesses through a fund established with in the Shawano Area Community Foundation. Major funding to date has been provided by Genex Cooperation, Inc., ThedaCare, Greenstone, and Mid-County Cooperative. Overseeing the activities of the Initiative is a group of local business, agricultural and health care leaders. Services of the Rural Health Coordinator are free.
